Little Red Riding Hood emerging from the wolfs belly. A scene often skipped over in illustrated children's books for some reason.

And here's a time lapse video of the coloring process in PhotoShop CS4

I've known my personal Christmas song for this year for weeks, do you?
On the twelfth day of Christmas, wanderlustlover sent to me...
Twelve pre-Raphaelites traveling
Eleven stars writing
Ten computers a-daydreaming
Nine Brahms camping
Eight Taurus a-reading
Seven candles a-teaching
Six kisses a-gaming
Five Ama-a-a-anda Collins
Four road trips
Three black roses
Two garage sales
...and a laughter in a beauty.
Get your own Twelve Days:

Some of these turned out so amazingly surprisingly beautiful, I just couldn't help sharing and saving it.

What does your character think of good luck/bad luck/etc?

A noiseless, patient spider,
I mark'd, where, on a little promontory, it stood, isolated;
Mark'd how, to explore the vacant, vast surrounding,
It launch'd forth filament, filament, filament, out of itself;
Ever unreeling them--ever tirelessly speeding them.

And you, O my Soul, where you stand,
Surrounded, surrounded, in measureless oceans of space,
Ceaselessly musing, venturing, throwing,--seeking the spheres, to connect them;
Till the bridge you will need, be form'd--till the ductile anchor hold;
Till the gossamer thread you fling, catch somewhere, O my Soul.

I will definitely be done on time with this. Ahead of time, actually. Phew! What a relief!

Here we go:

Well, fuck. It was a crazy 24 hour period for me and I've been pretty emo on top of it, so added to my typical distraction, I didn't get all twenty-five entries done for [info]thetwilight25. I feel pretty dejected and disappointed in myself, but hey - I'm the one who left it till the last minute. And I'm still going to finish the remaining five, and I'll be sure to get started on the next challenge entries as soon as possible.

In the meantime, the prompts list and the others I finished tonight:

Aesthetic // Awkward // Crave // Crusade // Erosion // Heart // Jealousy // Juvenile // Light // Mirror // Platonic // Play // Plea // Raindrops // Retribution // Sky // Soft // Sour // Stagnant // Touch // Vivid // Voracious // Walls // Wood // Worship

So I got an invite to Google Wave? And I've been playing on it a while. It's a lot like passing notes in class, for serious. There's even a gadget for "Check Yes No or Maybe."

Anyway I seem to have like, eight invites.

If anyone wants.

(Right now I'm waving with Jesse and we're making terrible "That's what she said" jokes. Hurrah for technology!)

Subject/first line of each entry per month.

1. This week I've been fostering two kitties from work, whose human mom is very, very sick and can't take care of them. They are really really adorable.Cut for OMG CUTE )

2. Did not win Nano, but I did crack 34K, which is eons better than any previous attempt. Maybe this shows a cosmic level lack of motivation on my part, but I'm not too bent out of shape about it. I'll give myself more time to plan next year, and I'm sure I'll do better. In the meantime, I have learned that I am capable of sustaining an extended project with an actual plot, and this may end up doing wonders for all those dozens of unfinished fics I have languishing on my hard drive unloved. I forced myself to put all of my current projects on hiatus as long as Nano was going on, and I'm super excited to be getting back to them. Woot.

3. Nano has also caused me to be a terrible LJ friend over the past month. I'm sorry guys! I've been reading steadily, though I'm sure that means nothing at this point. I'll be playing major catch up over the past few days. I still love you all! Really!

4. I hope all my fellow Americans had a lovely holiday weekend! [info]metroid_warrior was home from college along with a friend, so for once my Dad had someone to share his turkey with. The rest of us enjoyed homemade toforkey, vegan chocolate pie, and pumpkin squares, made by me. I can't even remember the last time I got through Thanksgiving without large terrifying fires being involved. Yay me.

But here's a link. It's a short video, but it's absolutely priceless.

I tried to listen to Owl City again and I just can't stand it. It's so popular and people whose taste in music seem to like it and it just. Can't.

It's not bad as much as it's so gooey boy bandy. And then I go and listen to listen to Dr Dick for the 30th time and I hate myself.

Not dizzy at the moment but I think the cold's getting worse. Had a fever. Have a fever. Will probably go to sleep for the night soon. Sorry, friends. :( But maybe I'll wake up later IDK we'll see. I have tomorrow off though, but hopefully I'll feel well enough to finally clean my kitchen, it's been a disaster since I've been back.

I'm getting nose herpes. :(

EDIT
okay totally getting dizzy again i'm gonna take nyquil i think and pass out for rest of the night, sorry people that wanted me aorund though beck i did two shitty assed tags at the tegaki so have at ye

First, a couple orders of business:

[info]fandom_stocking Is up and running again this year! If you're on my flist (or not!) and you've a stocking over there, it'd be great if you could leave me a note letting me know so I can leave you things! And I encourage those who don't already have a stocking to sign up. It's definitely a fun time.

My stocking is HERE. (BTW, the answer is yes, I could've gone much more obscure.)

Secondly, [info]act_three has started our read-a-long of the eighth doctor adventures books. A bunch of new people have joined and I'm ridiculously excited about it. If you like Doctor Who, you should definitely join and read along.

Thirdly, flist, if you haven't already, leave me your address in THIS POST. Oh, and if you're wondering why I haven't dropped my address in your cards post, I've probably just missed it - so let me know!

__

Okay, so I'm getting to the last, bitter dregs of the semester, and I still need to write a big research paper due....next week? Yeah, better get started on that. Well, technically, it's two papers, but I managed to finagle the same subject on both of them so I'll just have to tweak one of them a bit to suit the teacher better. Already panicky about next semester, but hopefully it won't be too much all at once.

There's also the myriad unfinished fanfic that's sitting around on my computer (I swear, I am the slowest writer when it comes to creative fiction.) ...and there's also one that makes me cry, more or less, every time I try to write more on it, which (considering I don't cry often) is either a very good or very bad thing.

Thanksgiving was nice. We made dinner and brought it up to Grandmas and ate there. I love spending time with her, and I get this feeling that we're always on the edge of a deep conversation. There's an understanding there, between me and her, that I like. She told us a story about how Pop got it in his head that he wanted to raise birds and they'd ended up with cages all over (which she had to take care of when he left for work - he was a railroad worker). And how they kept rabbits and one year they had geese that would follow him around the lawn as he mowed the grass.

Also, to my flist who were part of our drunken Withnail and I watch-a-long: I thoroughly enjoyed that and I hope we do it again sometime! (But I'm not drinking 80 proof bourbon next time)

SherriffThe Sheriff, he’s lean, mean, keen and did I mention, really lean?

A Pseudo Steam-punk comic character I drew the other day. He was just one of several characters I have sketched out while working on the cover #1 for Janos.

He is trying to be suave, but just looks goofy. I see him as sort of an inspector gadget type character, or more precisely Inspector Clouseau from the Pink Panther. He thinks he is fully in control, and very much the debonair individual, however he is really a bumbling fool that is just incredibly lucky.

Can you imagine him facing off with a professional gunslinger? Maybe one outfitted with a Tesla Beam weapon, in a little tumbleweed town.

Does he inspire confidence in your sense of security? Not bloody likely!

So there you go. The Sheriff is just another sketch that I created during a short break from working on bigger projects, no greater goal.
