My car broke down in Therapist's parking lot this morning. I KNOW! I KNOW, RIGHT? WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN AT THIS POINT? Anyway, it's off at my uncle's shop, which always makes me feel slightly guilty because it's a 94 Chevy Lumina and his specialty is Jag and BMW and Lexus and shit.

I'd be more upset, but it's going to get taken care of, and oh my god why so cute you two why so freaking cute aaaa.

EDIT: Also things I've learned this weekend, apropos of nothing: the way to get a usually fairly reticent boyband to go kind of nuts is to apparently remove their baby member and place him in a situation of DANGER!!!! vagina. It provokes stalking behavior, impromptu screaming, unasked for declarations of "he's pretty I'd go out with him" and is guaranteed to send at least one member into a crazed spiral of "I AM MOMMY HERE, DO WHAT MOMMY SAYS."*

*I'm talking about a specific band in all cases except this last one, because this "I am Mommy do as I say" shit happens in every single band I follow EXCEPT THE FEMALE ONE. There's something both charming and hilarious about well muscled twenty something dudes referring to themselves as "Mama."

So it's been a crazy long day but I didn't want to go to bed before finishing another chapter ... especially because I've lost time to this damn bug and I have 2 more big deadlines breathing down my neck after this. Yikes!!!

Anyhow. Here's where I'm up to with Wizard Squared:

62593 / 100000 words. 63% done!

My first drafts always come in short. I feel like I've hit the watershed half way mark in the narrative, but the back end is going to be a bit sploogey just to get it done. And then I can smack it into shape on the rewrite.

What I'm finding, writing in a series as opposed to a self-contained narrative, is that I can make all these fun references to passing events in the previous two books. Like easter eggs! Wheee! *g*

Another chapter tomorrow, I hope. Fingers crossed!

Speaking as an Episcopalian, Whoo hoo!!

Ordination to any ministry in the Episcopal church is now formally open to anyone regardless of sexual orientation!!

Which is hardly the most celebratory write-up of the news--most of the blogs that are pro-justice and equality are going nuts about it.  Both the House of Deputies and the House of Bishops passed it 2-1 in favor.  (Google on the resolution name, D025, to see what I mean.)

So it's always lovely to get a review. Even when the critic expresses reservations, just being noticed always feels nice. *g* And I do like to plug our local publications, in print and online, because they do a great job of keeping the spotlight on our homegrown artists.

So here's the Specusphere's Witches Inc. review. Thank you, guys!

Yay!
Thanks to the techno genius of my good friend Pete, I have my computer network back up again and full internet access. Phew. Of course now I've got catch up to play with a bunch of stuff, bleah.

Tweaked Clone Wars Gambit: Stealth today a bit, I hope for the very last time! And after dinner I need to finish the next chapter of Wizard Squared.

I wish I could show you the finished illustration for the Oz version sequel to Prodigal Mage. Greg Bridges has totally outdone himself. It is truly stupendous artwork. Squeeeee!

And if you're a Facebook fan and reading this, I owe you all a note and will write it on my Wall asap.

Back to other stuff now. What a higgledy piggledy day it's been!

One of the nice things about not being in college anymore is instant access to a functioning kitchen that usually can be counted on to not be full of the combined filth of eighty or so other people. Because of this, while not diligently job hunting I've been once again indulging in one of my favorite, and most neglected pastimes.Oh look! Chocolate chip scones. )

I've also realized that by graduating, I've also lost my best excuse for failing at prolificness. Given that I never had a problem churning out relatively polished original stories for class over the past several years, it has occured to me that perhaps this problem has more to do with me functioning better under a deadline than me being physically incapable of finishing things. Thus, I am giving myself one. From now on, I'll do my best to finish at least one project per month, whether it be a fic, a chapter, or hell, even a super awesome drabble. How hard can that possibly be, right?

I am stuck in the middle of a family crisis with no end in sight but still being a Star Wars fangirl through and through, I AM DESPERATE FOR NEWS OF THE NEW INVASION COMIC. It's not being sold here in my backwater little town, I'll have to order it. Has anybody seen it or read it and who and what was in it?

- It is dumb to talk about vids when you can't find them on youtube, but uh sit back and pretend. There's a World of Warcraft commercial I saw today with two women playing as their characters in a supermarket. And I loved it, because the females weren't stereotypical ~*gamer girls*~, nor were they wrestling in bikinis. It was refreshing to see women with the same any-girl-off-the-street appearance that men would have in a commercial for something nerdy. (That's another thing: I was sure there'd be a bug-eyed guy staring at them or applauding at the end, but nope. Just ladies.)

- I booked my plane tickets for D*C and for staying at [info]prix_etoile's house a week beforehand. Sooo psyched guys. I wonder if tickets for the aquarium are still available?

70 year-old Buddhist monk Hua Chi has been praying in the same spot at his temple in Tongren, China for over 20 years. His footprints, which are up to 1.2 inches deep in some areas, are the result of performing his prayers up to 3000 times a day. Now that he is 70, he says that he has greatly reduced his quantity of prayers to 1,000 times each day.

Here is some Anakin and Obi-wan being moonbirds icons.   I only did 50 because it was getting outrageous.
