Czech it: If you and I knew each other in high school, had very different political leanings even back then, and haven't said a word to each other besides "Have a great summer!" the night of graduation... wouldn't it be wise to think twice before emailing me anti-Obama forwards? Or, um, inviting me to join your "Marriage = 1 Man + 1 Woman" Facebook group?

It's funny how myself & my graduating class claimed to have developed a "no politics between friends" policy. It stemmed from an incident in Civics our senior year in which someone said it was a pregnant Iraqi woman's fault for being shot, someone locked themselves in their car, I got detention for using the f-word, and someone's sister was called a whore. Or was it in Economics class? No, it was probably Ceramics.

After that, I just gritted my teeth and bared it. There were 3 or 4 liberals in my class (of 23, ha) besides me. Everyone knew that saying anything could ignite something bad, and by then, we already had enough crappy situations that year. We didn't need to make any more terrible senior memories.

That's why I like my online life so much. There's a scroll button. I doubt anyone on my friendlist, no matter what their views are, will ever personally send me a black & white photograph of two wedding rings with grunge Photoshop textures accompanied by some homophobic solgan in 6pt font. (I really loved the epic design. "Lookit this angst as we fight them gays.")

With that ~*disclaimer*~ out of the way....

SARAH FUCKIN' PALIN, YOU GUYS.

This situation is disgusting. I'm all about keeping personal lives private, but not when it's a person who could end up controlling mine. And, if Bristol is truly pregnant this time, it's only worse.

There's a lot of conservatives saying that if this happened in Obama's family, no one would be as outraged. And can't you understand why? Palin preaches against birth-control for married couples. She only wants to teach abstinence in schools.

I feel absolutely horrible for Bristol. No matter what, she's being used as a pawn. Teenagers get pregnant every day. Teenagers can become wonderful parents, and some of them become terrible ones. It doesn't matter. What matters is that this poor girl isn't being counseled by her mother to further her education, or wait a few years before being married.

If the rumors are true, can you imagine how terrifying it would be to be pregnant at 16, and unable to get any moral support from your friends or family or anyone because you have to pretend the child is your mother's? It's sick. You can't talk about morning sickness or express worries about childbirth to anyone, all in the name of keeping appearances.

Regardless of anyone's view on reproductive choice, is this the type of manipulation we want to see in the White House?

The last three photos on this page make me so sad:

Bristol clearly loves that baby and Sarah looks like she couldn't care less. Maybe Bristol will have more say over her own life being married at 17 than being her mother's daughter. That is a mean thing to say, but seriously. :(

... man. :( That's awful. But no, I agree with you. I hope that once she's a legal adult, too, she'll be able to have more control.

Riddick.)

This person has no filters on, it's just spray your views outward and hope some of them connect. There are socializers like that, the ones who invite everyone they work with to their weddings and other events, not really caring about anything except the numbers that attend. Hope your evening is better than the day.

Oh, definitely. I wasn't upset by it at all -- the spraying (I like that term!) was just annoying. And a surprise.

I did have a good Labor Day though. I came home for the weekend. I took my mom to see Clone Wars for the first time, and she adored it. :D

Protecting our selves against the RAINBOW MENACE is so 2004. YAWN. Also, Sarah fuckin' Palin indeed. There is just so much pathetic deliciousness surrounding this whole business. I'm honestly starting to think that there's a punchline coming soon. Like, there is NO WAY that this is all real.

I agree. It seems like there's a pre-planned "October surprise" behind something. To say that Rove is attempting to sabotage the GOP is ridiculous, but... it's very "so dumb, it's smart."

dear god, this almost makes me feel bad for mccain. he should've tried harder to get his bffl lieberman on the ticket with him. the one time where mccain's whole "maverick" attitude would've come in handy, he folded to the party and ended up picking this nutcase because they didn't want conservatives shitting themselves over lieberman's views on social topics.

the moral of the story is that mccain should stop acting like house.

It's backfired to hell. There's a lot of house-cleaning he needs to get done, or damn, I've already heard from a million (two or three) staunch Republicans who say that they're going the other way. The social conservatives are angry one way or another over this, which like you said, was the problem with the VP spot/Lieberman in the first place.

Jesus House what are you doing
